Built by the Longobard upon ancient Roman ruin, the castle was a strategic point of defence of the city, used to control the access road and the surrounding area.
Castle was made by a duoble courtain walls and four angular tower.Out of these towers nowadays it is possible to see just “the tower of the Clock” which overlooks Maggiore Square, and the stronghold, a comunal tower called “Campanon” and visible from all the quarter of Feltre.
