The “Brent de l’Art” are enchanting places, able to reserve as much awe and wonder in the eyes of the visitor. They are the typical canyons carved into the rock by the river Ardo, not far from the village of Sant’Antonio of Tortal, easily accessible from the road that goes up to Passo San Boldo (Ubaldo) from Trichiana.
The “Brent de l’Art” is one of the most geological interest site of the left bank of river Piave, in Valbelluna.
The formation of these fantastic canyons is due to the erosive action of meteoric waters, rich in dusts and abrasive grains. They are among the most fascinating ecological monuments of the Alps of Bellunos’ area, thanks to their special form, the composition of limestone and marble rocks and the characteristic colours that are red, white and gray-green.
Their name derives from the dialect “Brent” which means Brentana , while “Art” is the way local people call the river Ardo.
